What will be the Problem you plan to solve with Artificial Intelligence (AI) ?
Introduction
With the progress and development of the times, artificial
intelligence has gradually evolved from a concept first proposed by the
Dartmouth Conference in 1956 to now fully integrate into human life, reaching a
level where it is widely known to all. Artificial intelligence, also known as
machine intelligence, involves imbuing machines and computers, which inherently
lack signs of life, with the ability to think, behave, or speak like
humans (B.J.
Copeland, 2024). In recent years, due
to the emergence of advanced technology such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, artificial
intelligence has become a hot topic. One of the most popular concerns is that
some people fear artificial intelligence will eventually replace humans in the
era of technology. However, fundamentally, the prefix of artificial
intelligence remains "artificial." The "intelligence" or
worldview of artificial intelligence is endowed by humans and should be steered
by humans. Artificial intelligence relies solely on big data to operate and can
only serve as an assistant tool to humans. The rational use of artificial
intelligence can promote the development of various industries. This is because
the emergence of artificial intelligence can reduce human resources and costs,
thereby promoting the rise or reform of many new industries (Ashley
Stahl,2022). The following will present the role of artificial intelligence and
its involvement in various fields.
AI in Cybersecurity
Artificial intelligence (AI) also plays a crucial role in
cybersecurity, as it can guard against evolving threats and
vulnerabilities. AI has threat intelligence that can evaluate massive volumes
of threat intelligence data from various sources in order to detect emerging
threats and patterns. AI-powered systems can improve an organization's defences
by continuously monitoring the danger landscape. Furthermore, AI-powered
systems monitor user and network activity to detect deviations from typical trends.
Furthermore, Artificial intelligence (AI) can detect insider threats, hacked
accounts, and other unexpected activity that traditional rule-based systems may
miss (AI in cyber security: Pros and Cons, and What It Means for Your Business
2023). Besides that, advanced malware detection systems are developed using
AI approaches such as machine learning and deep learning. For example, an
AI-powered cross-platform malware detection model is used to detect
undiscovered or zero-day malware. These systems can detect and categorise
malware based on factors such as code structure, behaviour, and communication
patterns (Santosh K. Sammarwar et al., 2023). To summarise, AI technologies are
critical instruments in cybersecurity which allow the protection of our
computers from threats.
AI in Language Translation &
Communication
Language barrier is an ever-present
problem between people who are unable to speak a common language. Overcoming
language barriers with AI translation machine learning (ML) by involving
Natural Language Processing (NLP) helps facilitate communication between people
who speak different languages. In communication, inclusive language, which is
words and phrases that avoid biases, slang and discriminatory expression is
crucial to ensure smooth communication. AI ML can translate words by
detecting the complexities and nuances of human conversations, and deliver
real-time translation results by increasing the use of inclusive language (Mosaicx, 2023).
In addition, AI ML also provides
speech recognition function that can convert speech into text. Unlike
old-school AI translation, ML combined with NLP can work well with human
conversations that speak quickly, have different intonations, different accent
and slang, or incorrect grammar. This is due to NLP also capable of word sense
disambiguation, which can analyze multiple-meaning words and determine the
meaning of the word that makes sense in a sentence. In this way, the AI ML can
produce more accurate and easier-to-understand translation results (IBM, n.d.).
AI in Information Retrieval and
Analysis
With over two-thirds of the world’s
population online, the digital landscape widely expanding including social
media, video games, forums, and video sharing (Digital Around the World —
DataReportal – Global Digital Insights, n.d.). All these applications generated
64 zettabytes of data, over one hundred trillion times megabytes. According to
the estimation of Cisco, there will be a total of 175 zettabytes of data by
2025 (Health IT, 2023).
Have you ever thought about how we
going to reach over 1.9 million web pages to find the data that we need? To
effectively research the entire internet data with minimal time and effort,
artificial intelligence (AI) is implemented in the data information retrieval
and analytics area. A simple example like Apple Siri, a virtual assistant
powered by artificial intelligence with one of the most excellent features ——
answering human questions by analyzing big data on the internet (Mixon &
Steele, 2023).
AI extracts, organizes, and presents
information in a concise and actionable manner, enabling users to access
insights effectively. AI's computing prowess is beyond human limitations,
allowing it to navigate the complexities of big data effortlessly. This is an
area to be focused on in the future as a key to unlock the digital universe.
AI in Predictive Analysis
Predictive analytics is a process to
predict what will happen next and forecast future outcomes using data
analytics. As one of the branches of data science, the predictive process and
augmented analytics where larger and broader pool of data are needed to provide
more accurate predictive insights. The whole process included data analysis,
machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and statistics to find out the
pattern to predict its future behavior (Google Cloud, n.d.).
In many fields, artificial
intelligence has become so prevalent that most organizations regularly use it
to enhance results and improve the overall effectiveness of an organization.
One of the biggest fields that take advantage of artificial intelligence is
healthcare which helps healthcare organizations, hospitals, and doctors to
access, analyze, and process the data of patients to provide a more accurate
diagnosis and personalized treatment. Not only that, it can also help to
identify at-risk patients by preventing human errors and fraud detection using
artificial intelligence in predictive analytics (Reveal, 2024)
At the same time, artificial
intelligence predictive analysis not only brings benefits to the healthcare
field, it also brings benefits to other fields such as finance, marketing,
sales, etc. In conclusion, artificial intelligence in predictive analytics is
to improve decision-making prediction, the advance in artificial intelligence
predictive analytics will make the technology more widely available in the
future.
Summary
In conclusion, artificial intelligence
(AI) has a huge impact on a variety of industries by providing innovative
solutions to solve problems and increasing production. For example, in
cybersecurity, AI functions as a digital shield, protecting us from constantly
evolving vulnerabilities. It also functions as a translator, allowing us to
understand and converse in multiple languages. In addition, it serves as a
powerful search engine, assisting us in obtaining important data in the vast
digital ocean. Furthermore, with predictive analytics, AI can help us make
better judgments and predict future trends.
As we step into the era of artificial
intelligence, it is very important that our ethics and technology must
converge. We must employ AI properly and ethically to avoid malicious use. In
today's increasingly digital environment, artificial intelligence is becoming a
crucial tool to make jobs become more easy, increase productivity, and discover
new insights (Roser, 2023). However, it's important to note that AI still needs
human guidance, instruction, and direction to function correctly.
